Vision & Values
What We Believe
Columbia Presbyterian Church is a gospel-centered church located in the heart of Columbia, Mississippi. We are a community of people seeking to glorify God and enjoy Him together. Everything we do flows from the good news of Jesus Christ, which we believe brings life, healing, and hope. Whether you’ve grown up in church or are just beginning to explore faith, you are welcome here.
Our Mission and Vision
Our mission is to glorify God and enjoy Him through worship and the formation of disciples. We believe the gospel has the power to bring renewal to individuals, families, and entire communities. As a body of believers, we want to be rooted in Christ, shaped by the Holy Spirit, and active in our love for one another and for the people around us. We long to see lives transformed by God’s grace and to be part of His work in Columbia, across Marion County, and beyond.
Jesus Christ
Jesus is the eternal Son of God who became fully human without ceasing to be fully divine. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross to bear the punishment for our sin, and rose from the dead in victory over sin and death. He ascended into heaven and reigns at the right hand of the Father. Through His life, death, and resurrection, we are offered forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and the promise of eternal life.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. It tells the true story of God’s work in the world and points us to Jesus. The Scriptures guide us in what we believe, how we live, and how we worship. We are committed to teaching the Bible clearly and faithfully, trusting that God speaks through it to shape our hearts and our lives.
God
We believe there is one true and living God who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is holy, loving, just, and sovereign over all creation. He is the source of all life and the one in whom we find our true purpose. In His goodness, He created the world and continues to uphold and sustain it by His power.
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is God’s presence with us. He gives new life to those who believe, comforts and strengthens us, and helps us grow in holiness. The Spirit equips the Church with gifts for ministry, empowers us to serve, and leads us into deeper relationship with God. His presence assures us that we belong to Christ and are being transformed by His grace.
Humanity And Salvation
We believe that every person is made in the image of God and created for relationship with Him. Yet because of sin, that relationship has been broken and we are in need of redemption. Salvation is not something we can earn, but a gift of God’s grace received through faith in Jesus Christ. Through Him, we are forgiven, made new, and welcomed into God’s family. Our hope and security rest not in ourselves, but in Christ alone.
