Our History

Columbia Presbyterian Church was founded in 1910, and for more than a century, it has remained a steady presence in the heart of Columbia, Mississippi. From the beginning, we’ve gathered for worship, fellowship, and mission just off Main Street — at the corner of Church Street and Oak Avenue.

A Place to Gather

Over time, much of our early institutional history has been lost. But even without detailed records, what endures is a deep-rooted sense of faith and belonging. It lives in the stories passed down, the friendships formed, and the shared rhythms of worship that have shaped our life together. In many ways, the heart of our church has been written not in archives, but in the lives of its people.

The sanctuary we worship in today was completed in 1957 and continues to be a place where the gospel is proclaimed, prayers are lifted, and grace is extended. Its walls have witnessed baptisms, weddings, funerals, and countless Sundays of faithful gathering. Though the world around us continues to change, Columbia Presbyterian Church remains a place of welcome, reverence, and hope — grounded in Christ and walking forward together.
