Vision & Values
Our Mission
Columbia Presbyterian Church exists to glorify God and to cultivate disciples of Christ in Columbia, across Marion County, and throughout the world.
Our Vision
Columbia Presbyterian Church is a body of believers in the heart of Marion County committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ and trusting in the power of the gospel to bring new life and renewal wherever it goes. Together, we seek to take part in this renewal by worshipping God, following after Jesus, and loving Columbia.
Jesus Christ
Jesus is the eternal Son of God who became fully human without ceasing to be fully divine. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross to bear the punishment for our sin, and rose from the dead in victory over sin and death. He ascended into heaven and reigns at the right hand of the Father. Through His life, death, and resurrection, we are offered forgiveness, reconciliation with God, and the promise of eternal life.
The Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God. It tells the true story of God’s work in the world and points us to Jesus. The Scriptures guide us in what we believe, how we live, and how we worship. We are committed to teaching the Bible clearly and faithfully, trusting that God speaks through it to shape our hearts and our lives.
God
We believe there is one true and living God who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is holy, loving, just, and sovereign over all creation. He is the source of all life and the one in whom we find our true purpose. In His goodness, He created the world and continues to uphold and sustain it by His power.
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is God’s presence with us. He gives new life to those who believe, comforts and strengthens us, and helps us grow in holiness. The Spirit equips the Church with gifts for ministry, empowers us to serve, and leads us into deeper relationship with God. His presence assures us that we belong to Christ and are being transformed by His grace.
Humanity And Salvation
We believe that every person is made in the image of God and created for relationship with Him. Yet because of sin, that relationship has been broken and we are in need of redemption. Salvation is not something we can earn, but a gift of God’s grace received through faith in Jesus Christ. Through Him, we are forgiven, made new, and welcomed into God’s family. Our hope and security rest not in ourselves, but in Christ alone.
